Evaluation of thermodynamic parameters of the combustion process in engine fuelled with low methane content
In Poland, as well as around the world, there are significant deposits of natural gas with a low content of methane, which prevents direct use in industry, household or transport. Similarly, a mixture of gas and air residual closed mines, which for safety reasons must be constantly cleaned. In both cases, the methane is extracted, and almost immediately excreted into the environment. These activities contribute to the loss of significant amounts of energy carrier and in addition to increase the greenhouse effect. The paper includes the energy performance of the gas-air mixture present in the actual mining conditions and defines the thermodynamic parameters of the combustion process as well as engine operating indicators.
