During research works concerning piston internal-combustion engines specifications of these objects are often needed. This data is usually dispersed and reaching to some is hampered or impossible. It is possible also to find reliable information on websites, books or magazines publishing information about the design, the production and the use of ships internal-combustion engines. Information was gathered from available sources which served as the ground for drawing up the database of producers of marine diesel engines and their products. And so an electronic database was drawn up about the most important ships producers piston internal-combustion engines for needs of exploitation investigations in the destination of gathering necessary data. At this work a database of chief Polish producers of ships piston internal-combustion engines was presented. Information was obtained from various sources, so as: websites of producers, advertising catalogues, or books and magazines about subject matter associated with marine diesel engines. This information was collected and written with the help of the program Microsoft Office. Gathered data was divided in engines of the main drive and emergency, containing details about producers, types and parameters of 2-stroke engines and four-stroke. The base enables supplementing and the alteration of entered data. Thanks to this function a possibility of entering information exists about the being and changes of property producers, types of engines, structural and technological changes and parameters of engines. Produced engines are usually operated by several dozen years after producing on swimming objects.
