The tests of Micro CHP unit with SI engine powered by LPG and natural gas

The paper presents data resulting by the experimental tests of prototype a micro CHP (combined heat and power) based on SI V-twin petrol engine converted to use of gaseous fuels. The engine load has been controlled in two ways, by throttle position change (quantitatively) or/and the value of air excess ratio (qualitatively - changed value of fuel dose with fixed throttle position) QQLC. This method allows for improve the engine efficiency in the range of partial loads by reducing the exergy losses during the inlet stroke. During the tests engine has been powered with LPG and natural gas. The engine performance together with environmental impact has been studied in this paper. Obtained results show slight engine efficiency increase by using QQLC method.
