Nowadays, more and more emphasis is being put on ecology and especially on exhaust emissions in diesel and petrol powered vehicles. This is resulting in an increasing interest in hybrid and electric vehicles. The general trend is to phase out the use of internal combustion engines in favour of electric motors in vehicle propulsion. Hybrid and electric vehicles are taking an increasing share of road traffic. Unfortunately, many electric vehicle owners and those considering the choice of an electric car feel that the maximum range is too short and are concerned about the short life of the batteries, which are relatively expensive to replace. Therefore, an important aspect when choosing a new vehicle is to check the possibility of extending the life of batteries based on the analysis of factors affecting their life. The article presents the results of simulations of factors affecting the life of a lithium-ion battery for different values of ambient temperature.
